Friends of the Kathleen and May

Based in North Devon, “The Friends of the Kathleen and May” is a body of volunteers  whose aim is to raise funds for and promote the vessel  and help maintain her in a seaworthy condition.

Formed in 2007, our first major campaign was to launch an 8000 signature petition to  present to the Secretary of State for Culture, aimed  at keeping the “Kathleen and May” in her home port of Bideford.  The petition was presented to the Minister, Margaret Hodge, by MP, Geoffrey Cox, QC.   Geoffrey Cox MP, Roger Luxton-Jones and Steve Clarke OBE presenting the petition to the Minister of State for DCMS, Margaret Hodge.

The Friends have recently embarked on an ambitious Maritime Exhibition Centre,  next to the home berth of the “Kathleen and May” ,  in the historic quarter of the Port of Bideford.

A membership scheme to recruit Friends from among our many supporters in Devon, UK and world-wide will soon be launched.
